EPOMAKER EM3: A Wireless Gaming Mouse With a Charging Dock

A wireless mouse is convenient until you sit down to play and realize it needs charging. That is what caught my attention about the EPOMAKER EM3: it comes with a magnetic charging dock, giving it a place to recharge between sessions.

The EM3 is a recent arrival on Amazon, according to 9to5Toys’ November 5 report. This is a look at its published features and buying options; I have not tested it myself.

Why the charging dock caught my eye

The dock is included, and its RGB lighting can be switched off. EPOMAKER lists a 600mAh battery and approximately 55 hours of use per charge. That battery figure is a manufacturer claim, rather than a result from our testing.

For me, the appeal is the routine: finish using the computer, put the mouse back in its spot, and let it charge. I would want to see how easily it seats on the dock in everyday use, but including the accessory makes the package interesting.

EPOMAKER EM3: the key specifications

According to EPOMAKER’s specifications, the EM3 offers:

  • USB wired, 2.4GHz wireless, and Bluetooth connections.
  • A PAW3315 sensor with sensitivity up to 16,000 DPI.
  • Up to 1,000Hz polling over USB or 2.4GHz; 125Hz over Bluetooth.
  • An approximately 56g weight, with a stated ±3g tolerance.
  • Five programmable buttons and Windows/Mac customization software.

The advertised carbon fiber construction needs some context: the top shell and buttons use 10% carbon fiber mixed with ABS. This is a reinforced plastic design, not a solid carbon fiber shell.

What I liked

Looking over the EM3’s features and price, these are the parts of the package that stood out to me.

  • The charging dock is included. I like being able to budget for the complete setup without adding a separate charging accessory.
  • Three ways to connect. Having USB, a wireless receiver, and Bluetooth gives buyers options for different computers and setups.
  • The understated appearance. I like the textured look in the official photos and the option to turn off the dock’s lighting. A gaming accessory does not have to keep a desk glowing.

What I didn’t like

  • Bluetooth has a lower polling limit. The drop from up to 1,000Hz to 125Hz means the connection options do not offer the same reporting rate. I would choose USB or the receiver for gaming.
  • Only five programmable buttons. That keeps the controls simple, but I would want more options for a setup built around lots of shortcuts.
  • No higher-polling upgrade. Anyone specifically shopping for 4,000Hz or 8,000Hz support will need a different model.

These are my impressions of the feature set. Comfort, click feel, software usability, and long-term reliability still need hands-on testing.
